The simple answer is, "We don't know!".
We do know that some of the people who have been to the Networking Centre have later come to the Highlands. Feedback tells us that they have used B&Bs and eaten in hotels. There have been cases of people booking tours after first making contact through an advertisement seen in the Virtual Scottish Highlands. Click to open the map in a separate window.
This means that there definitely is potential, and as participating in the project is so inexpensive, it does not make sense for any tourist business to not take part.
To date we have a large number of Bed and Breakfasts and Guest Houses advertising and being represented on maps of the area. Also some attractions. Inverness businesses are promoted on clickable adboards around the Inverness City sim. Drumnadrochit and Fort Augustus businesses are promoted on rotating adboards which can be clicked for further information and are shown in this video.
We are also creating a tourist information office and as we don't require courts and sheriffs in the Virtual Scottish Highlands, we are intending to use the stunning sandstone Inverness Castle.
