Development Plans in the Virtual Scottish Highlands Community in Second Life

The increase in the number of both new and repeat visitors has encouraged the team to expand. However, other sources of income must be found before that can be a reality.

The main three sims, Inverness City, Urquhart and Augustus were created in February 2009. The addition of the Loch Oich sim in February 2010 coincided with the group finally passing breakeven and so was a major achievement in our overall objectives.  Click to open the existing map in a separate window.

As the map below shows, we want to proceed westward to take in Fort William, northwest to Kyle and the Isle of Skye, north to Glen Affric and northeast to Strathglass and Beauly. We also have plans to expand eastwards taking in Culloden battlefield, Cawdor and Brodie Castles, Fort George and Nairn. Finally we'd like to start moving southwards to Aviemore with one eye on the southern cities.  Click for larger map.Full size map

While Second Life is not intrinsically expensive, adding entire regions does have a financial cost. We need to buy the new sims and be able to cover the monthly server costs which now exceed £5,000 per annum.

While we are building and expanding this Virtual Scottish Highlands, opportunities to sponsor or advertise businesses are relatively inexpensive compared with other media. If we continue to grow and increase in popularity those who have been alert to the potential and assisted in these early days will be given grandfathered preferential rates into the future. So now is the time to see how we can help you introduce your business to this prestige development.

Email us at Lauraclaire.Benelli@Harmsworth.net or check out the sponsorship page.

Don't delay. We are only an email away and you can be helping to finance a part of something really exciting, which promotes your product, shop or service to both a growing home market and already huge international market. Even better, you'll be given grandfathered rates into the future.
